This year’s presentation Saturday October 19 at 4pm.., focuses on choreography based on Tai Chi Forms which inherently involve flowing, circular motion emanating from the specific use of internal breath to bring out the movement artist’s hidden power. The result is a gorgeous physical display of dance-like movement, enhanced by the colorful costumes of the Chinese cultural tradition. I will be collaborating with Midway @midwayartiststudios textile and movement artist Amy Nguyen @amynguen as she performs a different style of tai chi. The contrast and blend are sure to be enchanting!  After the demonstration, Sharon and Amy will offer the audience a chance to learn some of our movements.  All ages are welcome!

Sharon is a Boston dancer and choreographer whose work has been presented in numerous venues, including at The Dance Complex, Strand Theater and in NY at WAXworks, HATCH Presenting Series, Greenspace and Pearl Studios, and internationally at Paris Music Festival and in Canada. She holds an MFA in Dance from The Boston Conservatory, where her thesis focused on Hip Hop Choreography and its history and evolution. In addition to her dance, Sharon is a World Champion 6th Degree Black Belt in the dance-like form of Chinese Pai Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi under Sifu Clarence Cooper. 

Midway Studios and Fort Point Open House will run Friday, October 18 through Sunday October 20. The Tai Chi demonstration and class is Saturday, October 19 at 4p.m. for approximately one hour
